Indianapolis is one of my all-time favorite cities to photograph a wedding in. The city is FILLED to the brim with some fantastic venues and so much character that it’s impossible not to fall in love with it. With so many great options for wedding venues though I figured it would be helpful to break down a list of my favorites for you. That way you can see some of the amazing locations this city has to offer and get a head start on researching potential venues for your own wedding! So without further ado here’s my list of my top five favorite wedding venues in Indianapolis!
Before we can get into the list of top 5 wedding venues in Indianapolis we need to go over some details so that you know exactly what to look for and what will fit you. What kind of wedding are you going for? What sort of experiences are you hoping to have on your wedding day? Do you have a certain look or feel to your wedding venue when you picture it in your head? Everyone is different so your preferences and vision for your wedding will be unique to you. Talk with your partner about what you both envision for your wedding day and find something that fits that vision!
One of the biggest factors in determining what wedding venue will be the best fit for you is how many guests you plan to have attend. Indianapolis has a TON of variety when it comes to wedding venues, so whether you plan to have an intimate wedding or a large gathering with everyone you know, Indy has you covered. Talk with your partner about who you both want present at your wedding. Who are your must haves and your maybes. Once you have a rough list together you can start to find venues that are able to host all the guests you plan to have. While Indianapolis does have a large variety when it comes to wedding venues, be aware that the more guests you have the less options you’ll have available to you just based on space alone.
This goes hand in hand with how many guests you plan on attending and is why having a list of must haves and a list of maybes is a must. Are you two more the laid back type that want to focus on spending time with your closest people? Or are you the type that likes having a huge hype crew there for you on your wedding day. For your venue do you want a more intimate and close feel with your favorite people? Or do you want a huge party with everyone you know getting crazy on the dance floor? There are no wrong answers here! Just keep in mind that certain venues are better geared towards certain styled events, and only certain venues in Indianapolis are geared towards hosting larger weddings.
Now that you know what to look for and what to think about when looking for a wedding venue we can take a look at my top 5 in Indianapolis! These are my favorite venues Indy has to offer, but this is by no means a complete list. There are so many great venues in the city, so even if these don’t end up being exactly what you’re looking for it’s great to look through as it will help you narrow down just what it is you want in a venue!
This wedding venue on the northside of Indianapolis has so much going for it! Newfields has a combination of beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces giving you a variety of spaces to choose from for your wedding. Outdoor spaces like the Oldfields Garden, Lily Terrace, and the Garden Terrace are all incredibly beautiful spaces perfect for a dreamy outdoor wedding. Then Deer Zink Special Events Pavilion, Pulliam Family Great Hall, and the Sutphin Fountain Room are all gorgeous spaces for your indoor wedding! Keep in mind that these different parts of the venue have different limits on their capacity, so be sure to check out the link above to make sure you select the right space to fit your wedding. Newfields is perfect for both larger weddings and intimate weddings alike. It does not have a designated getting ready space, so a nearby Airbnb can be a great option there!
This Intimate Wedding Venue is such a cool and modern space. It can host up to 250 guests as a cocktail style reception, or 200 guests as a seated reception. It’s an incredible reception space that offers so much for couples looking for a larger reception space with a modern feel for their wedding. The wedding venue doesn’t have a designated ceremony space, but it is located in the heart of Indianapolis. This means there are plenty of great options nearby for you to have your ceremony! Vision Loft recommends Soldiers and Sailors Monument, Benjamin Harrison House, Veterans Memorial Plaza and University Park for nearby ceremony spaces! Being in downtown Indianapolis means there are plenty of hotels and Aribnb’s nearby for you and your guests to stay at as well!
The Bottleworks hotel in Indianapolis has to be one of the coolest wedding venues in the city. The old Coca Cola bottling plant now turned hotel has kept a lot of the style and architecture from back when the building was first made giving it an incredible retro style for your wedding day. The venue has 5 different event spaces and is perfect for an intimate wedding day, or a wedding of up to 250 guests and anywhere in between! The venue doubles as a hotel as well so you’ll have the easiest commute possible for after your wedding festivities are over. For any couple that’s looking for a venue with a ton of personality and a retro feel to it Bottleworks is the spot for you!
Daniels Vineyard is a beautiful venue with an incredible indoor and outdoor space for your wedding festivities. The vineyard wedding venue is located on the North East edge of Indianapolis meaning you can get a more rural feel for your wedding while still being just a short drive away from downtown Indy. Even though the main draw of the venue is their outdoor vineyard space, their indoor spaces are equally as beautiful! The venue offers a lot of freedom when it comes to decorations for your spaces, so if you’re looking to make your wedding reception and ceremony look and feel like you, you’ll be able to at Daniels!
Located just north of Indianapolis the Six-Pence is a venue that has a LOT to love about it. From the renovated barn that can seat up to 300 guests comfortably, to its gorgeous outdoor spaces. The barn includes two separate getting ready spaces for your wedding parties, a Homestead that sleeps 10, and a room called the Workshop that can be used for a rehearsal dinner or even just a hangout space! The venue is perfect for large weddings but can be converted to be used for smaller more intimate gatherings as well. The Six-Pence has so much classic charm and an incredible style to it that you can decorate and make your own as well!
Any one of these Indianapolis wedding venues would be a fantastic option for your wedding, but like I mentioned earlier the city has SO many incredible venues for you to choose from. If one of these venues is the one for you, or if you have another location in mind but need a photographer head over to my contact page. I’d love to get to know you and your wedding vision so we can start to plan your day together!
