As you get into your wedding planning you’ll get to know the feeling of having WAY too many things on your plate, to the point where it can start to really stress you out! Between finding and booking your vendors, sending out save the dates and invites, deciding on your food, and everything in between, all the pressure really starts to add up. With all this going on it’s so easy to get swept up in the hype of your wedding day and forget something you SWORE you wouldn’t forget come your wedding day. To help you avoid this feeling I put this article together with 10 packing tips for your wedding day!
Purchase a clear Tupperware, and start gathering the goodies as you’re purchasing them. As you’re packing you will want to have 5 primary packing categories for your wedding day: Details one and two (for you and your partner), Getting Ready, Ceremony, Reception, Day After Bag. Having these assigned categories started early allows you to set items aside in their designated groups so you’re much less likely to forget anything as it’s all in one place.
Whether you have a label maker, you write on pieces of tape, or even just write in sharpie on cardboard boxes/Tupperware. Label. Your. Shit. Not only will this help you keep track of where things are as you start packing for your wedding day, it also helps you organize and track what you have already.
Get all your smaller details grouped and accounted for so they’re ready as you start packing for your wedding day! Things like your rings, invitation suite, jewelry, watches, and other accessories that you want to be a part of your wedding day. These items are usually on the smaller side making them easier to forget so get them all together so you’re sure to remember them.
If you’re not returning home after your wedding day, be sure to pack everything you’ll need for the following morning, and however long you plan to stay after that. Pack your bathroom essentials, clothes for the following day, comfortable shoes, and anything else you’ll both want the following day. If you plan to make an extended trip out of your wedding day this becomes even more important as you’ll need enough clothes for the days following your wedding.
It’s YOUR wedding day, which means your people are there for you and at your disposal. Have your family help you pack your wedding day necessities, and even have them pack some items in their car to lighten your load. If you’re really ahead on your packing game and you have some people you can really trust you can even give them some items well ahead of your wedding day to clear up some space in your house and not feel like you’re drowning in all your details!
An Oh Shit Kit or Emergency Kit is SUCH an important part of your wedding day packing list. Sewing kits, tampons, Advil, water bottles, hairspray, bobby pins, I’ve seen it all used on wedding days. It is SO much better to have these things there at the ready and not end up needing them, than to have an emergency come up and be completely lost trying to find a solution.
Your wedding day is going to be a LONG day! Yes it is one of the most fun days you can have surrounded by all your favorite people, but that doesn’t make it any less tiring. Packing snacks to eat throughout the day as needed and a whole case of water for your getting ready space will keep you fueled and hydrated for your entire wedding day. You’re going to want to be present for all the moments of your wedding day, so stay fueled!
Steam your veil, iron your shirts, steam your robes, break in your shoes, try on your full wedding outfit, and wear it around your house for an hour and make sure it’s comfortable. Making sure your gear is not only packed but also prepped for your wedding day is huge for your comfort. Last thing you need is to have the perfect pair of wedding shoes only to have them not broken in at all for your big day.
As your wedding day approaches keep an eye on the forecast to make sure you pack the essentials to keep you dry and comfortable. Things like clear umbrellas and extra hairspray are great to have, and if it’s going to be cold be sure to have a shawl, hand warmers, or something else to keep you warm. Your comfort is one of the key factors to enjoying your wedding day to the fullest, so plan and pack for possible curveballs mother nature may throw at you.
Last but definitely not least be prepared to hype up the pregame! Your wedding day is such an exciting celebration, how often do you get to have all your favorite people together celebrating you? Pack a speaker, champagne or other drink of choice, some Gatorade for hydrating, all the little things to get your wedding party hyped up and ready to go!
As you can see there are a LOT of things you need to take into account and plan for when packing for your wedding day. Keep this list handy as you start planning your wedding and you’ll have everything you need there and ready for your day!
