Emma and AJ’s engagement photos at The Alderman were everything they were looking for. Something out of the box, something personal to them, and something a little on the edgier side! They both love Chicago, but not in the traditional skyline way. They love the restaurants, they love the nightlife, and the culture that comes with Chicago. The Alderman in Pilsen would turn out to be the perfect setting for their Chicago engagement photos. I am freaking obsessed with this album as it’s so unique and personal to their relationship and I cannot wait to share it all with you!

Chicago Engagement Photos

When you think of Chicago engagement photos you might think of the Chicago Skyline at North Avenue Beach, Millennium Park, or Museum Campus. Grand places with tons of sights to see, but these two wanted something that spoke to their personal love for the city. Chicago is SO much more than its pretty views, (though those are incredible too!) There’s so much culture and character in the city, especially in the bars and restaurants you’ll find throughout the city. It’s something I’ve fallen in love with since moving to the Windy City and loved photographing for Emma and AJ’s session!

As you can tell from this blog, and if you’ve been following me for a while, you know just how much I love Chicago restaurants and bars for engagement photos. I actually wrote a whole blog going over how to plan your engagement session at your favorite Chicago restaurant or bar. So when Emma and AJ hired me to photograph their session at The Alderman I was BEYOND pumped! These two had such a cool vision for their session. 

They wanted an editorial style vibe but with my lifestyle photography feel. We pulled this off by incorporating the natural poses I usually use in a way that felt elevated and framed in a more editorial way. This combined with some flash photos and a little bit of sauciness combined to make the perfect engagement album they were looking for and it was SO much fun! 

I had such a blast with Emma and AJ during their engagement session. I love taking engagement photos in Chicago at locations that have meaning to my clients. It makes for a more intimate and personal experience that I just can’t get enough of!
