You just got your wedding album back and the photos look incredible, just how you imagined they would! What happens next though? Do you share everything on social media right away? How do you ensure your photos are safe and easily accessible? When do you and your honey look through the photos? There’s a lot you can do after you get your wedding photos back so I decided to write a quick breakdown on all the things you should do once you have your gorgeous wedding album back!
Take some quality time to look through your wedding photos with your honey and celebrate this huge moment in both of your lives! Your wedding day is one of the most exciting moments of your lives and there are always SO many memories made the day of your wedding. After you get your wedding photos back from your photographer, set aside some time for you and your honey to look through the albums together. Better yet make a date night out of the occasion! I actually encourage two date nights with different reasons for both. One to just look through the photos and relive your favorite moments from your wedding day. The second date is to decide on your favorite photos and bookmark them so that you know which to include in your physical wedding album.
This might honestly be the first thing you should do if you’re on the less organized side of things! Make sure that after you get your wedding photos back from your photographer that you bookmark the album and save your login information. This will be a lifesaver down the line when you want to show your friends and family your favorite photos from the album. It also just makes it so much easier as you are going to want to look through your album again and again! Take just a little bit of time to do this when you first get your album to avoid any headaches in the future. We all know the frustration of losing a password and having to go through resetting it!
After you get your wedding photos take the time to download them, ideally in two alternative locations, to make sure that no matter what happens you won’t lose your photos. For my galleries I give my clients lifetime access, but I still encourage you to download the photos for that added bit of safety. Whether that be to Google Photos, Drop Box, a Hard Drive or SSD. Whatever you choose, having multiple copies of the downloads ensures that no matter what happens your wedding album is safe and you’ll always have access to them.
After you get your photos back from your wedding day one of the first things everyone does is share their favorites on their social media. This can be a ton of fun and is a great way to get everyone excited and hyped up about your wedding again! You can also share your photos with your closest friends if you all have a group chat together, or one of my favorite ideas is sending out some of your photos to those that attended your wedding! Create thank you cards for those that attended the wedding and use some of your favorite photos for the cards to share them that way!
One of my favorite things for couples to do after they receive their wedding photos is to print them! Whether that be in the form of a photo album, you print them off individually to display, or whatever you can imagine. There’s something so cool and so meaningful about having physical copies of your favorite photos from your wedding day. It’s such a great way to relive the day and there’s nothing like sitting on your couch with your honey and looking through your wedding album years after the wedding day. The photos take you back in time to that day and you feel the emotions you felt on one of the most important days of your lives which is so magical!
When it comes to physical photos I recommend my couples to print through Nations Photo Lab. They’ve provided the best and most consistent quality for my editing style that I have found and I’ve had great experiences each time using their services! Another pro tip is that if you plan to frame the prints I recommend ordering them in a matte finish. Trust me on this it just looks so MUCH better. If you wind up with the double gloss of the photo and the glass everything just looks a little too blurry.
I love the idea of a viewing party after you get your wedding photos back because there are always SO many fun stories that come up from family members that you might not have even heard from your day yet! It’s such a fun experience to reminisce and relive your day with your favorite people that were there. Oftentimes they likely have only seen the pictures that you’ve posted to social media too, so getting to see the full album along with you is such a fun experience! This is fun to do with your friends as well as with your family, schedule a couple of nights that work for everyone to get together and celebrate your wedding day while reliving it together!
