Summer Wedding in Door County, Wisconsin | Megan and Adam

While I may be a Chicago wedding photographer, I do still get out for a destination wedding here and there! These experiences are often some of my favorite to photograph, and Megan and Adam’s day is NO exception there. Their wedding day took place at the Gordon Lodge in fabulous Door County, Wisconsin! There were seriously so many amazing moments throughout the day that it’s going to be hard to include all of my favorites, but we’re going to try!

Getting Ready and a First Look in the Forest

Megan and Adam couldn’t have asked for a better start to their wedding day in Door County, Wisconsin. They each got ready in the company of their best friends, all on location thanks to the plethora of lodging options at the Gordon Lodge! I always love when my couples are able to get ready at the site of their wedding venue, and the comfort of the Gordon Lodge’s housing made the time all the more enjoyable for Megan, Adam, and their favorite people! Once Adam had a drink with his guys, and Megan had a first look with her father, it was time for us to head out for a first look between the soon-to-be newlyweds!

We met up in the middle of a forest near the Gordon Lodge, and WOW what a setting it was! I’m going to be obsessing over the fairytale vibes of this forest for a LOOONG time. Not only did Megan and Adam choose to have their first look here, which was SO sweet by the way, but they also wanted to have their private vows here as well. I couldn’t imagine a more perfect way for them to start their day together than sharing these emotional commitments with one another. After some couples portraits we made our way back to the Gordon Lodge as their ceremony was set to begin soon!

Wedding Ceremony on the Lake in Door County, Wisconsin

It should come as NO surprise that Megan and Adam chose to have an outdoor ceremony in Door County, Wisconsin, as we were able to enjoy a fantastic view of Lake Michigan. What DID come as a surprise to me were the INSANE hues of blue we got to experience! The deep blues of Lake Michigan sat opposed to the gradient shades of blue in the sky to create a literally jaw dropping backdrop. As beautiful as the setting was, nothing could outshine Megan and Adam’s love for one another though! Surrounded by the very closest of their friends and family, the two said “I do” in the literal best company possible. Everyone was so full of joy from the moment, and eager to celebrate all night long with the newlyweds!

Party and Sunset Portraits in Door County, Wisconsin

After a lovely cocktail hour outside of the reception hall of the Gordon Lodge, it was time to get the evening’s festivities underway! Immediately kicking the night off with the best vibes, Megan and Adam were presented with epic Fathead cutouts of their cats! This perfectly set the tone for the night, as it was a celebration filled with deep belly laughs, endless smiles, and an unmatched amount of love in the air! The only break Megan and Adam had from the festivities was when the three of us snuck out for some of my favorite sunset portraits of ALL time. 

The afternoon was full of random storms, so our chances for sunset photos weren’t looking good initially. Almost as if it was part of a script, a clearing in the clouds let us sneak in some mind blowing portraits on the lake! I’m so glad these two got to experience something as wonderful as this on their wedding day, and I’m going to be daydreaming about these photos for a long time, probably forever honestly! To end their wedding day in Door County, Wisconsin, Megan and Adam spent the rest of the evening dancing their hearts out with their friends and family at their sides!
